When a loser is the winner

How ironic that as the news outlets were calling South Dakota for Sen. Hillary Clinton, they were simultaneously calling Sen. Barack Obama the presumptive Democratic nominee. Democrats have managed to select the candidate who is currently in third place in the electoral college vote.

As Sen. Clinton addresses her supporters tonight, it is abundantly clear to me that she is without question the strongest of the three remaining candidates. It never ceases to amaze me how Democrats can get right up to the line, and then blow their best chance at victory.

Earlier tonight, Sen. McCain taunted the record of Sen. Obama, saying "is this change we can believe in?" In less than ten minutes, he managed to frame Sen. Obama as the Washington status quo candidate.

It's going to be a long time from now until November.
