The Truth....Wilt and 100

Numbers Never Lie....NEVER!

50 Years ago Wilton Norman Chamberlain Scored 100 points in an NBC game.PERIOD!

Friday March 2nd marked the 50th anniversary of Wilt dropping a full buck on The NY Knicks.

It's been widely known that there is no film of that game other than the snap shot of Wilt holding the paper.

For years it's been acknowledged that Wilt did it. And could have scored more but they stopped the game after.

Now because we live in a microwave society and I believe because he's black, you have sports writers and commentators calling his record into question.

Now the first thing I find funny, is that although Wilt himself said there were only about 400 people at that game, he had met thousands who claimed to have been in the building that night. I find it quite amusing and a great part of a great story.

However, I hate that these writers, because they want to throw dirt on anything that did not happen in the "last 15 minutes" , now want to question the 100 point record.

Here is the thing. Wilt was playing at the height of his talent against athletes who were most likely not much better than some current high school players of today.

There has never been a machine built to score buckets like Wilt. Not Jordan, not Kobe. Wilt with Jerry West in their prime would still average a point total that would make medicine sick.

I do think that Kobe and MJ could have scored 100 points easily in Wilt's era. Except that they weren't there and Wilt was.

Wilt also has super human numbers in regards to assist records, and rebounds.

If you want to question whether Wilt scored 100 in a single game?
Then I get to go back and look at Babe Ruth's pitching record and call that into question because I have seen CC Sabathia play and Ruth's numbers are too super human to be real.

I wouldn't do that because it's dis respectful not only to what Ruth built but to the millions who have been positively effected by his accomplishments. And I have no valid reason to doubt Ruth's numbers at the plate or on the mound.

You can crown Kobe the best since Jordan or better if you want.

JUST DON'T TARNISH WILT'S LEGACY TO JUSTIFY IT!
