That could be tomorrow's headline if TV preacher Pat Robertson reads The New York Times report on the power of prayer. In a story titled "Long-Awaited Medical Study Questions the Power of Prayer," researches who have studied more than 1,800 patients for almost a decade concluded that "prayers offered by strangers had no effect on the recovery of people who were undergoing heart surgery." The study further suggests that "patients who knew they were being prayed for had a higher rate of post-operative complications..." Looks like Pat and his 700 Club might have some explaining to do!
